with Christopher Kardambikis

WE HAVE A RISOGRAPH!!! Learn about this magical unicorn of self publishing equipment with our second Rockstar guest artist, Christopher Kardambikis.

This is a two-day, two-color workshop: Thursday, March 29, 6-9pm, and Friday, March 30, 10am-4pm. You will experiment with image production and color separations for riso printing. The workshop will explore developing a collage-based technique for creating prints using physical materials, photographs, and drawings. We will also introduce tools available in programs like Photoshop to process images for printing. Single images and sequencing for zine production will both be covered.

Christopher Kardambikis explores space, process, and form through books, printmaking, and drawing. He has co-founded three artist book and zine projects: Encyclopedia Destructica in Pittsburgh, Gravity and Trajectory in San Diego, and 90 Proof Press in Los Angeles. Christopher has been an artist-in-residence at Pioneer Works, The Art Students League, The Millay Colony, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Vermont Studio Center.  He received his BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and MFA from the University of California, San Diego.

Christopher is the host of Paper Cuts, a program on Clocktower Radio that documents the contemporary world of zines and DIY publishing.  In the fall of 2016, Christopher joined the faculty at George Mason University as an Assistant Professor and the Director of Navigation Press.
