In this workshop, we’ll cover the basics of screen printing. You'll see how to coat and expose a screen, review types of images appropriate for screen printing, learn about proper setup, and clean up and start printing one-color images. This course covers the basics necessary to begin your transition into a printing wizard! Bring any questions or ideas you may have about the process and prepare to get inky!

KB Brown studied photography and print media at Old Dominion University. She has experience in both the commercial screenprinting and the DIY manual screenprinting realm. When she's not working at the studio you can find her screenprinting custom freelance jobs or in the darkroom developing prints.

CMYK Screenprinting

Cyan! Magenta! Yellow! Black! In this class we will cover separating a photographic image provided by the instructor into four process colors. You will learn how to perfectly hand mix CMYK ink, and print four-layered, gorgeously registered, photographic screen prints. All materials will be provided.

ABIGAIL LUCIEN is an interdisciplinary artist raised in Florida and Cap-Haitian, Haiti. She holds a BFA from Florida State University and an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her work has exhibited at museums and institutions such as MoMA PS1 in Long Island City, New York, Atlanta Contemporary in Atlanta, GA., Museum of Fine Arts in Tallahassee, FL, Woman Made Gallery in Chicago, IL, and The Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, PA. Lucien is currently based in Richmond, VA where she teaches in the Sculpture + Extended Media department at Virginia Commonwealth University.

CMYK Screenprinting

Flower Monoprints

Got spring fever? With real flowers we’ll compose beautiful, one-of-a-kind prints using printmaking methods. Forage in your garden and neighborhood (or perhaps secret snip in your neighbor’s yard) for lovely flora and fauna of all types. Studio Two Three will provide bouquets of flowers to choose from, but feel free to bring your favorite bloom, spring or greenery.

HILLARY ZELL is Assistant Director at Studio Two Three and an adjunct professor in the Graphic Design Department at Virginia Commonwealth University. Hillary attended Columbia College Chicago for graphic design and fell in love with book arts and printmaking while earning her degree. She is a Richmond native that has rekindled her love for printmaking in Virginia. Watch out, she will talk your ear off about her dog, Goose.

Gold Foil Printing

The goal of this workshop is to provide an understanding to gold foil printing. We will review the stencil-screen printing process, learn about different tools and techniques! This workshop will provide you with the fundamental skills and students will walk away with a beautiful gold foil silk hanky!

ERINA SCHULTZ works at her small home studio creating functional wares and goods through experimenting with printing, natural dyes, and materials. She is also the Printmaking and Fibers Studio Tech for the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center, teaches classes at the Textile Arts Center in the Manhattan and Brooklyn Studio and at PUF studios in Poughkeepsie, NY.
